Let them envy

It was 7 am in the morning and I don't remember when was the last time I actually woke up at 4am and that too to visit a temple at this early hour with an empty stomach and take a rendezvous around the temple like a spaceship waiting at space station for the docking window.

On top of that, Mr. Sun decided to visit early and torture me further with his scorching rays.

But one thing that is pushing me is her smile, oh BTW I'm with my wife, and this is part of the tradition for the newly weds to take a detour of pilgrimages, they call it tradition, I call it pain!

God, where does this energy come to her, she was continuously chanting the Sanskrit slokas and thrashing coconuts for each round and here I am dragging myself and adjusting my dhoti and imagining slurping of hot idli, vada sambar combo, sorry God!.

Amidst I stealthily watched her navel and enjoyed the view, I guess women had eyes at their back too , she spotted me and moved her finger indicating 'no' without turning back. I averted my eyes like nothing happened and delved into my craving thoughts of sambar.

Suddenly she halted: for a moment I thought she was going to taunt me for my irreverence. She turned to the bell and rang it like the whole city will startle from it's sleep.

And then comes the harathi and a wave of relief, ”Gods must be crazy” moment. While Poojari was walking towards us with Prasadam, he really seemed like God sent. I extended my hand like a child would do for an extra chocolate at birthday parties.

She sighed at me and mocked me like my mom and whispered "people are watching".I shrugged and had that Prasad to fullest, I ended up eating her ration too.

We found a place nearby to sit, and she showed a sigh of relief and took a deep breath and adjusted her saree. How do women effortless carry this saree stuff like a warrior would on a war front, I wondered.

She was sweating profusely, apparently there was no fan nearby and the wind had stopped dead . I extended my hand and cleared her face with my kanduva, and kissed her forehead. She shied away with a smile and whispered no PDA, people are watching.!

I pulled her closer to me, feeling her bosom and warmness of our breath engulfed us and I whispered "Let them envy, my angel is right in front of me."

She smiled, I smiled.
