Friendship Day Beach cleanup

When we talk about climate change it boils down to either denial or despair. One might find comfort in denial, sleepwalking to greater disaster. While the other might feel despair, frustration, anger and leading to shut down for the action.

The story of denial sounds something like, "It's not up to me, because someone else will fix it." The story of despair sounds like, "It's not up to me because it's too big to fix." Do you hear the similarity? Despair and denial might appear to exist on polar ends of the generational spectrum, yet they stem from the same place. How powerless we feel. [excerpt from Clover Hogan, TED talk]

When I read 'The Future We Choose' a book by Christiana Figueres and Tom Rivett-Carnac it gave me more insights and the gravity of the situation we are in right now.

"Once we hit critical thresholds, the damage to the environment, and consequently to our future on this planet, will be irreparable."

Our approach in dealing with climate change has to be a multi-dimensional approach- technology, stronger policies, sustainable energy transformation and most importantly the mindset of an individual.

You could build a better future and make the world a better place by making little changes in your lifestyle, be it cutting off fast fashion, be it using reusable means, be it switching to renewables. Small change-big impact.

Beach cleanup - Rushikonda, Vizag

Of course the small portion we managed to clean at the beach today might get filled by just a stronger tide at midnight but the brighter side here is I get to meet a larger clan who are ready to roll up their sleeves and be ready for the next weekend beach clean up, this makes you feel that you are no longer alone but part of a big family that is trying to bring change in this world.

Vizag is a paradise so are its beaches and the people. A day well spent.
